Information to Reviewers

INSTRUCTIONS

Double-bind peer review

The peer review helps the Portuguese Journal of Midwives in the process of decision making, based on quality processes required for the articles to be published. We inform you that the review process is carried out by two reviewers, in a blinded process (double blind peer review). The manuscripts submitted are evaluated by two reviewers in a timely period of 60 days, through a blind p.

In case the reviewer has any declared interest in the theme raised in the manuscript, the reviewer should inform the Editors of the refusal of the review, informing about the type of relation and/or  interest may be affected in the publication of the article.

ETHICAL GUIDELINES:

– Any reviewer who does not feel qualified to review the manuscript, must immediately inform the Editors

– The revised manuscripts must omit the name of the reviewers

– Manuscripts should not be shared by other peers

– Reviewers shall always identify published works that have not been cited by the authors, and these observations should have been published and accompanied by the citation

– The review process is confidential and should not be used for personal use

– Reviewers must refuse manuscripts with which they feel involved, i.e. have a conflict of interest resulting from collaborations, personal relationships or opposition with authors and institutions linked to the manuscript

– Manuscripts should be evaluated objectively and impartially

REVIEW PROCESS

The reviewers should evaluate the manuscript constructively and didactically, and they should be pressed for honesty in the comments to the manuscript. They should assist whenever possible the type of writing (e.g., concise, clear, correct) according to Vancouver standards. Reviewers should resort to a positive speech, referring to the strengths and less strong in each section of the manuscript, suggesting modifications that can strengthen the manuscript, making it more scientific.
