Telenursing in breastfeeding

Breastfeeding represents a major challenge for the woman/couple, with consequent physical, psychological and family readjustments. Scientific evidence has shown that the benefits of breastfeeding are numerous for the mother and child, both in short and long term, but also for society. Community care units and their health professionals are important resources to successfully overcome new challenges, through the care they provide. With COVID-19 clinical practices and parenting behaviors that do not promote breastfeeding have emerged. UCC Cuidar, in 2020, reformulated its care practice and sought to promote and support breastfeeding with telenursing. Consequently, it was found that the data obtained from the users reveal a high level of satisfaction (93.9%) with telenursing. On the other hand, the national indicators that aim to monitor the results of the breastfeeding promotion and support practices of the UCC professionals were significantly higher compared to previous years.
